Waddingham, of 'Ted Lasso' fame, joined Princess President John Padgett and Sun Princess Capt. Craig Street on stage in the Princess Arena.
Nebuchadnezzar of Veuve
She lowered a golden ray into a sun sculpture, saying it represented the 16th ship in the fleet. That triggered the release of a Nebuchadnezzar (equal to 20 regular bottles) of Veuve Clicquot, smashing on the bow.
Before the godmother performed her duties and blew kisses to the cheering crowd, Padgett introduced and thanked Fincantieri's Luigi Matarazzo, Carnival Corp. & plc CEO Josh Weinstein and Chairman Micky Arison in the audience.
Shout-outs
Padgett also gave shout-outs to artist Romero Britto ('Love by Britto' restaurant), Chef Rudi Sodamin, Dario Ceccchini (The Butcher's Block by Dario), cocktails consultant Rob Floyd, chef to the royals Darren McGrady and Chef Mokoto Okuwa (Makoto Ocean). All were on hand.
And Padgett welcomed three original 'Love Boat' cast members in the audience: Jill Whelan (Vicki Stubing), Bernie Kopell (Doc) and Ted Lange (Isaac).
Captain's salute to his crew
Capt. Street called Sun Princess the pinnacle of his career and acknowledged his 1,650 crew, who 'breathed life and soul into this wonderful ship.'
Natasha Bedingfield was on hand to perform hits including 'Pocket Full of Sunshine,' and other celebrities included Tyra Banks, whose SMiZE Cream is across the Princess fleet, and fashion designer Randy Fenoli, a godparent for 2022's Discovery Princess.
